German immigrant and tinsmith John Reinig built the red brick vernacular building with his son William in 1900. Mr. Reinig also owned the Fond du Lac Malt & Grain Co. which used to be located between our building and the Fond du Lac River. President Taft visited Fond du Lac in the early part of the century and rode in Mr. Reinig's automobile as he paraded around the city. Several US Presidents have driven past our building (Taft, Ford, Bush 41 and Bush 43). The Red Brick Inn is located within the North Main Street Historic District.
