The Inn at Lexington Description:
The Inn at Lexington offers enticing, eclectic and elegant lodging accommodations for the discriminating traveler. The bed and breakfast features only the finest in furnishings and arguably the most luxurious sleeping chambers in all of Rockbridge County, Virginia. Centrally located in the beautiful downtown historic district, this wonderful hotel alternative provides the perfect location for you to enjoy the very best of Lexington.
On the first floor a comfortable and spacious living room offers a place for you to curl up with a good book or simply sit and listen to the wide variety of music that plays around the clock while you watch the fire glowing in the hearth. Mornings would not be complete without a delicious gourmet breakfast served in the elegant dining room. After a satisfying morning meal you will want to start your day in Lexington, an area brimming with possibilities.
History:
Looking back on the colorful past of the Inn you will see that hospitality has always been its purpose. The Legacy began in 1927 when it housed the Alpha Tau Omega Fraternity of Washington and Lee University. Following in 1946, it became the Colonial Inn with 20 rooms. It was the place to stay if you were visiting either of the colleges located in Lexington. In 1953, the house was again purchased by a fraternity, none other than the infamous Delta Upsilon men of Animal House.
Hospitality takes a different turn now and the house was purchased by the Presbyterian Church and became a refuge for homeless children. If only the walls could talk what stories they would tell. Hospitality is what this house has always been known for and it continues so today. The word repeats on every page of our guest comment books and for me there is no finer compliment.
