Babcock House Description:
Need great lodging? The Babcock House is a bed and breakfast inn and restaurant located in historic Appomattox, Virginia, minutes from the famous surrender site which ended the Civil War. If you are looking for deluxe accommodations at a very reasonable price, please consider our inn. We offer gracious hospitality and elegant dining in a friendly and informal atmosphere.
We are less than three miles from the Appomattox Courthouse National Historic Park where General Robert E. Lee surrendered the Army of Northern Virginia to General Grant. The park is the original site of the village of Appomattox and all of the buildings have been restored to the 1865 surrender date. Our turn of the century inn is just a few blocks from the county visitor’s center and is at the center of the 19th Century Homes Walking Tour. If you like history, you’ll love Appomattox! Our personal attention to our guests and their needs is unparalleled in Appomattox.
This restored, turn of the century inn, dates back to 1884. At one time The Babcock House was the boyhood home of nationally known author, Dr. Havilah Babcock. The inn features five bedrooms and one suite, all furnished with period antiques. You will truly feel you have taken a step back in time as you enter The Babcock House. Room rates include a full breakfast. Relax in the evening on one of our verandas and enjoy the glorious setting and comfortable elegance of the Babcock House, while feeling as comfortable as you would at your own home.
