This was our first trip to Chicago, and we fell in love with the place -- largely due to our fortuitous lodging choice! This place must have THEE very best location -- one block from parrk, zoo, lake, organic farmers market, Second City and lots of wonderful restauarnats, There are two bakeries across the street and we had breakfast at one or the other every day. Our room was stunnng, clean, huge and full of loving details. Our hosts were equally caring, helping us with all our needs, entertaining and as charming as their home. We can't wait for a return visit!

As the founder of the Chicago Literary Hall of Fame, I've gotten to know owners Fran Rahmer and Quincy Stringer over the last several years--they've been enthusiastic and generous supporters of my project and others of which I'm aware. Out-of-town guests for our annual induction ceremony (i.e. family members arriving to accept awards) often stay there because I know their experience will be exceptional. I trust Fran to take the very best care of our distinguished visitors and to support their stay in all the little ways that a Chicago friend or family member would do. A few weeks ago, I finally had a chance to stay there myself, and it was an absolutely perfect getaway spot for me and my wife on her birthday. It's of course as pretty and charming as everybody says, and the location is great, and our suite was equipped with everything we needed and more. Again, though, what separates Hansen House from a lot of other quaint places are the owners. Before we arrived, Fran offered us a pair of passes to a show that another guest had left. I called on my way in and Fran hopped out and saved a parking spot for me. It went on like that: Fran doing all these little favors and kindnesses that you knew came naturally to her. During our short stay, Fran was the perfect host--there when you wanted her. This is an exceptional place to spend your time in Chicago.
