The Tudor House Bed & Breakfast Description:
In 1935 the Calvary Episcopal Church in Fletcher suffered a serious fire and an architect known as S. Grant Alexander was commissioned to redesign and build everything except the clock tower which survived. An English couple known as Mr. and Mrs. Montfort-Bebb also commissioned the same architect to build their new home, the Tudor House, in 1936 and used many of the same craftsmen.
In 1939 both buildings were featured on pages 1 and 2 in the publication "Carolina Architecture" as being of significant architectural merit. The current owners purchased the property in 1988 and have carried out extensive restoration and made many improvements whilst retaining the original structural design and features. It is now a traditional British Bed and Breakfast with a delightful blend of modern and old world charm. Tudor House is tastefully decorated and furnished in the original style. Ivy-covered walls, terraced gardens and the peaceful setting give the visitor a glimpse of a Tudor style mansion. The spacious lounge with its beamed ceiling; large, picturesque bay window; cozy stone fireplace and comfortable English antique furnishings is an ideal place to relax.
