Cozad-Cover House Bed & Breakfast Description:
Have you been looking for that special place to stay on your next vacation? A home that brings back the elegant time from years past? The Cozad-Cover House is what you have been searching for. The Cozad-Cover House, built circa 1905, is an imposing two-and-half story gable-roof frame home which effectively combines traditional and modern elements. The home was built for/by the Cozad family who owned a substantial tract in Andrews early in the twentieth century. Developer and builder, Cozad erected several large gracious homes in the area. In 1918 The Cozad House was sold to Samuel Cover of F. P. Cover & Sons Tannery. He made some modifications to the rear of the home, which may have been sun porches, which later became part of upstairs bedroom and, in 1938, a bathroom. It remained in the Cover family until the death of Frances Cover in 1999.
Located near the sleepy downtown of Andrews, North Carolina, today this charming bed and breakfast offers the old small-town flavor now all but lost in America. Our guests are surrounded by style, furniture and collectibles from another era. What fun to just browse around the house at your leisure looking at the many accents your hosts have collected. There are views from the large porch of the manicured grounds and distant mountains. Spread a blanket under one of the massive oaks and imagine how life was in the early 1900s when this home was constructed. Stroll the expansive grounds to see the original doll house and carriage/laundry building. Let your eyes roam over the many flowers, the decorative vegetable garden, and small goldfish pond. There is also a cottage and a studio apartment on the premises for those looking for a little more privacy. Guest staying here still have full access to the entire property.
And talk about exciting things to do in the area. We offer something for everyone. Whitewater rafting down the famous Nantahala River, fishing in the pristine lakes and creeks, bicycling along breathtaking mountain roads, mountain biking along difficult trails, motorcycling on some of the best roads in America, the scenic Smoky Mountain Railroad, golfing on unique mountain courses, craft shopping in the backwoods from local artisans, antique hunting where the good buys have not yet been found, hiking on the Appalachian Trail or into the pristine mountains of the Nantahala Forest, gem mining in nearby Franklin, enjoying the local cultural activities such as clogging and bluegrass music, gambling at the Cherokee Harrah’s Casino, and photographing the natural wonders of the Great Smoky Mountains. Everything at the Cozad-Cover House is designed to provide a relaxing time away from your everyday life. Come and be our guests.
