Wakefield Inn Description:
Built in 1804, the Wakefield Inn is located in the quiet, historic village of Wakefield Corner. Only two hours from Boston, approximately one hour north of Portsmouth, NH, and situated in the center of New England . The inn is the ideal base to explore and enjoy the spectacular beauty and tranquility of an unspoiled bit of God's country. Enjoy the beautiful White Mountains, the Lakes Region and convenient to the seacoast of Maine, all within an hour's drive from the Inn. Or relax and enjoy the immediate area visiting nearby museums, gift and antique shops, playing golf, driving along scenic by-ways or enjoying outdoor sports.
The building has many unique features, the most spectacular of which is the "FLYING" spiral staircase which gracefully spirals up to the third floor with no center pole support. On the first floor is a large sitting area where guests can gather to share experiences and chat with the innkeepers. In the center of the room is a three sided fireplace. The Inn has a wrap around front porch, which is a favorite place to sit and relax in the cool, crisp mountain air.
The Wakefield Inn hosts MYSTERY WEEKEND PACKAGES where each guest becomes a suspect, sleuth, and maybe even a murderer or victim. QUILTING WEEKENDS offer both novice and experienced quilter's a chance to get away and enjoy the companionship of fellow quilter's. Innkeepers, Lin and John, are always on hand to make sure that your stay is enjoyable. Personal touches abound and it is evident that personal attention to detail and cleanliness are among their top priorities.
