The 1886 House is an authentic New England country farmhouse situated on 5 acres at the top of a high ridgeline in historic
Chesterfield, just off scenic Route 9 & 143, " The General Lafayette Trail".We are only 12 miles from
Northampton and located in the foothills of the Berkshire’s in the Pioneer Valley where you can enjoy the quiet of the country or visit many of the area’s attractions. Our B&B is small and intimate; therefore we can provide individualized attention to your needs. We serve a hearty breakfast each morning in the dining room and we will accommodate known dietary requirements. Breakfast is generally served between 8:30 a.m. and 9:30, but for those who want to sleep in, a later breakfast can be arranged. Weather permitting, enjoy coffee or tea on our back porch with its views of fields and woods. We have three guestrooms, two of which have private baths. The first floor Rose Room has a queen sized bed & private bath and overlooks a nice quiet meadow. On the second floor the Chelsea Room is a large guestroom overlooking the front lawn and magnificent old trees. It is furnished with a queen-sized bed, private bath and has satellite TV, & VCR. There is another guestroom, the Meadow Room, on this floor, with a white iron antique double bed. This room shares a bath.
Guests are invited to relax in our entertainment room where satellite TV, DVD, CD player and VCR are available. Our quiet reception room is the perfect place to relax with a book or discuss your travel experiences and plans. We have an extensive collection of books available to our guests for browsing. Enjoy a cozy fire in our reception room in the Winter and our central air conditioning on a hot day in the Summer. In the evening, you can relax with dinner in a fine
Country Inn or eat in one of the many excellent restaurants in
Northampton, the home of Smith College. Or chose to enjoy a romantic candlelight dinner in Chandler's restaurant on the grounds of the famous Yankee Candle Co. just south of Historic
Deerfield. You can also try your hand at creating your own candles and there are many interesting shops here. Feel free to stroll the grounds, or read a book out in the meadow.
We are near cross country skiing at Notchview and the
Chesterfield Gorge.
