Kehoe House Description:
William Kehoe and his family arrived from County Wexford, Ireland when he was ten years old. He later apprenticed as an iron molder and made his fortune after becoming the owner of his own Iron Foundry. William married at 26 and he and Annie had 10 children and many grandchildren. He built this home in 1892 to accommodate the ever-expanding family.
The imposing structure is a blend of architectural styles and unusual details such as the Corinthian columns, decorative use of red brick and terra cotta moldings, and Italianate "eyebrows." What makes it truly unique is the exclusive use of cast iron for the exterior trim.
Today William Kehoe House is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. The property consists of the original home with thirteen guestrooms. This stately Renaissance Revival mansion overlooks Columbia Square in Savannah's renowned Historic District, and is only a stroll away from all the treasures and pleasures that this beautiful city has to offer.
Shortly after its 100th birthday the building was restored to its original grandeur and opened as a gracious Inn. In 2003 it again underwent renovation to enhance its charming features and update amenities and decor for the select guests. You'll find unique antique and period furnishings along with state of the art conveniences in a casual relaxed atmosphere.
We invite you to join us at the Kehoe House, where you will experience the traditions of refined elegance and a dedication to southern hospitality. In a city known for its historic guest houses, this newly restored 1892 mansion has a reputation as one of the most elegant inns of Savannah.
