The Butchart Estate Bed and Breakfast Description:
Located in Owen Sound,Ontario,Canada. The Butchart Estate B&B has beautiful gardens near the Bruce Trail, Tom Tomson Art Gallery, Billy Bishop Museum neseled at the base of the Bruce penisula on the Niagara Escarpment. Our Home was built around 1885 by Daid Martin Butchart, a wealthy Cement Baron. His family is famous for their summer estate on Balmy Beach outside of Owen Sound as well as the fact that they were related to Robert and Jenny Butchart who developed the Buchart Gardens of Victoria,British Columbia. Our home has been modernized with an indoor pool but retains the original character with six bathrooms and beautiful wood work.
Enjoy the shores of Georgian Bay as well as the pretty harbours and water falls of our region. Just a couple of hours from London, Toronto, Kitchener and Barrie, you can ski in Collingwood, swim at Sauble or Wasaga Beach, or hike the Bruce Trail. Owen Sound was a transportation hub of old Ontario so there are many beautiful and diverse styles of architecture in the city. Enjoy our great parks, harbour and walking trails. Grey Bruce Rural Garden Tours offers a leisurely pastime for garden enthusiasts. Enjoy the finest sand beachs anywhere in North America along the Lake Huron shoreline. Scuba dive off Tobermory and in the only under water park in Canada, Fathom Five National Marine Park. Enjoy fabulous canoeing, sailing and kayaking off the shores of the Bruce Peninsula or on one of our many lakes and rivers.
Follow the Grey County Waterfall Tour... Seven waterfalls flowing over the edge of the Niagara Escarpment. it's a great way to see the hills and valleys of the area. Enjoy the history and culture of our area by visiting our many museums and art galleries like the Tom Tomson Gallery, Grey Roots Cultural and Visitors Centre, Owen Sound Marine and Rail Museum in Down Town Owen Sound.
