Bettles Lodge- Historic Arctic Bed and Breakfast Description:
Historical landmark bed and breakfast-Alaska wilderness, Northern Lights, caribou viewing, hiking, rafting, flight seeing, dog-sledding, snow-mobiling, cross country skiing, snow shoe walks, and Gates of the Arctic National Park. Arctic Circle Tours offer day and overnight tours with flight from Fairbanks, 3 meals per day, overnight hotel, Koyukuk Riverboat tour, Village tour and Arctic Circle Certificate. Charter flight by small plane into Brooks Range for wilderness picnics, day hikes and day fishing trips. Overnight wilderness trips for river rafting, backpacking and base camping. Noatak, Alatna River, Kobuk National Park, Wild River, John River, Anaktuvuk Village, North Fork of Koyukuk River. Our Fish Camp is open for Lake Trout, Arctic Char, Sheefish, Northern Pike, and Greyling. Bettles is a unique setting in a rural village on the Koyukuk River. Caribou migrate near the village and may be seen certain months of winter or summer. Main Lodge, built from hand hewn logs in 1948, features front desk, gift shop, pub, restaurant, internet, cable TV, cozy fire place and pool room.
Aurora Lodge, built in 1993, offers comfortable rooms rooms with private bath and Jacuzzi. Aurora Lodge lobby "for guests only" has cable TV, DVD, VHS, coffee, tea and tables for writing, reading and relaxing. Sauna open for all guests. Aurora Lodge is ideal for conferences and gatherings. One hour flights from Fairbanks to Bettles depart 2-4 times daily. Please contact us to coordinate your travel. Northern Lights may be viewed August 23 until April 7. Travelers enjoy the thrill of seeing the sky lit up with the mythical glow and dancing curtain light show. Aurora Cabin located on a lake near Bettles is open for nightly viewing. Day trips for snow shoeing and cross country skiing at the lake are offered. Or you might like to try the moonlit trails with dog team. Lots of fun to enjoy staying overnight at the Aurora Cabin and watch the Lights all night from your private viewing room.
