A bit of history: Chick Cove Farm, formerly Glen Cove Farm, used to be part of the property still known as Woodport (a private estate which has the old steamboat landing for the plantation). Around WWII, it was a large chicken farm. Locals say that a row of chicken houses led down to the Piankatank River. There is but one of its many chicken houses still standing; it had the southern face removed so it could serve as equipment bays; one section still has the old nesting boxes.
