The Hartness House Bed and Breakfast Description:
Elegant and stately, the Hartness House is the mansion and country estate of the former Governor of Vermont and wealthy industrialist James Hartness. Today, this Bed and Breakfast offers 45 rooms and an award-winning fine dining restaurant on premises. The Victorian ballroom comfortably seats 110 for weddings and conference meetings. The Governor's Room restaurant seats 40 in a romantic setting with candle-lit, linen tablecloth tables. The restaurant offers creative and distinctive New England cuisine served in an artist manner. A fieldstone tavern features a full spirits and wine list and offers lighter bistro fare in a casual atmosphere. An outdoor deck by the swimming pool seats 36 under cheerful umbrellas. The inn is decorated in early 1900's Victorian style with mahogany paneling, beamed ceilings, polished hardwood floors, oriental rugs, Tiffany lamps, and a sweeping three-story staircase. The Main House features three grand fireplaces and a wood paneled Library.
The inn offers accommodations ranging from luxury suites with fireplaces and DVD home theater systems to contemporary rooms with private baths, cable TV, telephones with voicemail, and wireless high-speed Internet. All wings are connected by accessible with hallways and ramps to the Main House and restaurants. The Inn is surrounded by sweeping lawns, gardens, fountains, and 35 acres of forests, mountains, meadows, streams, and nature walks. The estate features unique gardens with columns, pergola, stone house, fountains, and reflecting ponds. Weddings are held in our wedding gardens with sweeping lawns, columns and pergola, and enclosed for privacy by thick forests.
