The Lighthouse Bed & Breakfast, a
Waco, Texas area B&B, offers one of the best experiences in
bed and breakfast in the
Waco Texas area, and is located near the ranch of former President George W. Bush. It is a restored romantic and historic turn-of-the-century Queen Anne Victorian home with a wrap-around front porch. Ideal for
romantic getaways or group retreats, facilities include a total of 16 bedrooms, all with private baths.
This uniquely located facility, the longest operating B&B near the President George W. Bush Ranch at
Crawford (just outside of
Waco in Central Texas), offers
romantic getaways and group retreats, but also caters to business travelers in a quiet setting where the focus is on personal service and attention. Built in 1894, this restored turn-of-the-century Queen Anne features the romance, tradition, and charm of the 19th century. Jerry and Jan Walters have operated The Lighthouse since 1988 and now have multiple houses, including The Lyon House built in 1920, just two doors from The Lighthouse.
Thirteen bedrooms, each with a private bath, are decorated with cherished family heirlooms and other selected antiques arranged in a romantic setting that offers
comfort and gives special attention to detail. Each house has been air-conditioned and much restoration work has been completed, although the plans for further restoration seem to be on-going.
Throughout the houses are furnishings that have been in the homes of Jerry and Jan and their forebearers for generations. Jan is a descendant of Gov. William Bradford, the first governor of the
Massachusetts Bay Colony. The parlor has a tete-a-tete that serves as a center piece and this special love seat is believed to be the same one that was in a Bradford home in North
Texas seven generations down from the governor.
