Constructed in 1893 by W.J. Montgomery, the home features dramatic 12-foot interior wood archways and elaborate, detailed woodwork. Built in the Victorian Eastlake tradition, the home features stunning rooms that are adorned in the Victorian tradition. Most rooms contain the original pine flooring and each guest room includes a fireplace. The high ceilings and fireplaces add to the majesty of the home. Located just two blocks off Main Street in the heart of the City of Marion, The Grove offers guests a retreat on five acres of property with a wide array landscape varieties.

One public room is dedicated to the memory of Revolutionary War hero Francis Marion. Known as "The Swamp Fox" due to his legendary ability to attack the British and quickly disappear into the swamps and forests of the area, General Marion is the namesake of the City of Marion and Marion County. The Marion Parlor features 18th century styled furniture made by the owner and materials that help interpret South Carolina's major contributions to the American Revolution. The home features four guest rooms on the second floor and one suite on the first floor. There are several elegantly adorned public rooms and porches where guests can enjoy the beauty of the grounds and the relaxing temperate climate.

Historically known as The Grove due to its stately trees, The Grove rests on five acres of beautifully landscaped grounds. The home's gardens feature colors and scents year-round. The property features areas of towering oaks, magnolias, flowering crepe myrtles, fragrant olives, camelias, dogwoods, redbuds, and azaleas. No matter what time of year, the temperate climate of the area can provide guests with an array of color and beauty. Presently, minor renovations are being made to the home by the new hosts and owners. When completed, these renovations will allow a private bath for each guest room as well as restoration of the various gardens located on the property. The grounds will also include a woodworking shop where guests can view the process of building furniture.
