Historic Smithton Inn Description:
This colonial inn is located just a quarter mile from the Ephrata Cloister in the heart of Pennsylvania Dutch Country, an area known for the Amish, Antiques, rolling hills and farm land, and quaint towns and shops.
The innkeepers, Dave and Rebecca Gallagher, have taken this historic and charming inn and added a bit of modern comfort and convenience, to create a casual, homey feeling for their guests.
Breakfast is always a treat and includes the Smithton’s signature granola, homemade yogurt, muffins and breads in addition to a delicious hot entrée, alternating between sweet and savory dishes such as Mixed Berry Puffed Pancakes, Belgian Waffles Banana Foster, Upside Down Caramalized French toast, Mediterranean Frittata, Italian Crustless Quiche or Baked Eggs in a Ham Cup.
Each spacious guest room boasts a working fireplace and is decorated with hand-sewn Amish quilts, plus antique & hand crafted furniture. Modern conveniences include a flat screen TV with DVD player, clock radio with iPod docking station, and wireless internet access throughout the inn.
After a day of taking in all the activities Lancaster County has to offer, guests can be found rocking on the front porch, watching horse and buggies pass by, or relaxing by the fire pit in the back garden, surrounded by flowers, birds and bunnies.
