As you enter Shorecrest, built on a crest of the Long Island Sound, you sense the history that surrounds this seaside mansion built in 1897 as a very modern beach house, in the American four square style. It was renovated in 1920 by Dr. Valentine Ruch, who sold small plots of land on the bluff of the Archamomogue lnlet located behind us, to his friends and colleagues from Engle Wood Cliffs, New Jersey, establishing the Archamomoque Colony as it is known today.
