Goldsmith Denniston House Description:
Denniston House is an elegant Bed and Breakfast in the heart of the historic district of Newburgh, New York. The Federal-style house was built about 1820 for Goldsmith Denniston. Modified in the 1880s with the addition of a bay window and marble mantle pieces, the house was updated in 2001-04 by its present owner, caterer Nancy Billman and late husband Peter and features his landscape paintings.
Denniston House as been inspected by the Orange County B&B Assoc. and offers comfort, elegance and excellent food in a setting convenient for the Hudson River, the historic sites of the Newburgh, nearby attractions such as Washington's Headquarters, Purple Heart Hall of Fame, West Point, Storm King Art Center, and Dia:Beacon and Orange County Choppers. In additon, recreational attractions of the Mid-Hudson Valley include wine trails, orchards, kayaking, hiking, antiquing, gallery hopping and river cruises. See why the Hudson is called "the Rhine of America".
Relax on the porches with books from the library, walk the Historic District & enjoy the 2nd largest historic district in NYS. Experience eating outside at one of the riverside restaurants on our waterfront. Or enjoy our patio with an acre of gardens, a flowing pond and English garden feel.
Relax in the evening watching the lights and boats on the river and retire to rooms with queen size beds and marble showers.
If you have an event in mind, we host indoor birthday, anniversary and private dinner parties. Outside events such as weddings, fundraisers or larger gatherings are welcome.
