An American Bed & Breakfast Description:
An American Bed & Breakfast in historic Arlington, Massachusetts, a town nestled between Cambridge and Lexington, is a home of architectural and historical significance. It is a tribute to the original owner's character and a match to the new owner's love of the past. This treasure was the home of the Hon. John Quincy Adams Brackett, a former governor of Massachusetts. Queen Anne in style with a dramatic sweeping gable to porch roofline, the Governor Brackett House was built in 1887 and still retains much of its original detail and integrity. It is listed in the National Register of Historic Places, and is also a proud member of the Pleasant Street Historic District.
Upon stepping into the home's gracious foyer with its magnificent staircase, one can immediately feel the peaceful ambiance of another place in time. Superb architectural detail including fine moldings and high ceilings are enhanced by a collection of designer furnishings and antiques. The owner's love for the unusual with the ability to blend the old with the new makes for an interesting and comfortable bed & breakfast experience. Its individuality is present not only in its beauty but in its spirit.
For over ten years we have welcomed guests, offering personalized service which can only be provided by a small traditional Bed & Breakfast. We enjoy giving business travelers, visiting family and friends, and vacationers a true "home away from home" during any one of New England's marvelous for seasons. The Governor Brackett House is also an ideal place for intimate gatherings and meetings, such as showers or birthdays. I look forward to sharing my home with you!
