Breakfasts : French Toast : Eve's Garden Easy Overnight French Toast
Eve's Garden Easy Overnight French ToastEve’s Garden Easy Overnight French ToastWe served this dish to the last French folks who stayed with us, first time they’d ever had French toast; they loved it! Here’s how… Generously butter a cookie sheet and up its sides. Mix together: 6 large local eggs 2 leftover egg yolks if you have them (we always have left over yolks, but still great without them). 1 cup local milk ½ cup half and half ¼ cup organic raw sugar 2 TBS agave syrup (or maple syrup) 1 tsp homemade vanilla extract ½ tsp kosher salt Use about: 1/2 stick room temperature butter To butter one side of: 12-15 slices homemade whole wheat currant-pecan bread (Come for a visit and we’ll give you this recipe too!) Place each piece of bread buttered side down (yes, down) in the cookie sheet, leaving about one finger’s width between each slice (as the bread will expand overnight as the egg mixture soaks in) Pour wet mixture over the bread. Flip each piece of bread so the buttered side is up (yes, Up) Cover and set in fridge overnight. Good morning. Pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees. Bake bread about 15 minutes or until the bread firms up and starts to brown on the bottom. Gently separate and flip the toast (buttered side now Down) Bake about 5-10 minutes more, until golden brown. Dust with powered sugar. We serve Eve’s Garden Easy Overnight French Toast with an easy sauce: Magic Mango Sauce Heat together: 10 oz. frozen organic mango 10 oz. frozen organic pineapple 10 oz. frozen organic peaches 10 oz. frozen organic strawberries 1-2 TBS butter For about 30 minutes. Blend it up Serve it hot along side Eve’s Garden Easy Overnight French Toast. We also serve with berry covered high-protein breakfast custard and bacon if you like. |
