Monteagle Inn Description:
The Monteagle Inn is a thirteen-suite bed and breakfast country home and retreat center in the heart of the town of Monteagle, Tennessee. It is situated atop the Cumberland Plateau just minutes away from The University of the South, hiking trails, antique shops, and superb restaurants. A stone and brick entrance welcomes you to the Inn. Flower and herb gardens beckon guests to wander through and enjoy the fragrances. Picturesque balconies, a spacious front porch, and garden courtyards provide gracious outdoor relaxation.
You are greeted by warm Mediterranean colors and soft music as you enter the Inn's foyer. The living areas of the Inn are outfitted with overstuffed furnishings washed by accent lighting, and graced with special antiques. As you step into our home, we welcome you to make it yours also. We invite you to experience the mountaintop and all its seasons at the Monteagle Inn. Our large living room with four distinct sitting areas encourages you to curl up on one of the oversized sofas with a good book from our shelves. A welcoming fire in the cool month makes even the most relaxed guest even lazier. Inside entertainment options range from cable television, movies on the VCR, a game of chess on the antique French game board, or books from our library nook. Hot cookies and flavored teas ward off the munchies.
The spacious dining room, which seats 70, is filled with light from the multitude of windows on all three sides. Provencal linens grace the windows and tables. Brightly-patterned Italian urns, bowls, and dishes serve as a backdrop for delicious breakfast specialties. Coffees and cold beverages are always available to guests.
We are excited about our courtyard garden and gazebo. Charlene Nash, Horticulturist at the Tennessee Aquarium, designed the garden to be colorful year round. Extensive new plantings for the fragrant cutting gardens, herb gardens, and fresh produce gardens are beginning to yield their bounty. A new stone and brick entrance to the Inn is completed. Additional cedars, river birches and native shrubs now border the property on all sides, providing shady, green areas for lounging In our Adirondack chairs. Spring, summer, fall, or winter…all excellent times for a getaway, group retreat, a training session, or a family gathering. There is so much to see and do in the Sewanee-Monteagle community all year-round.
